3 Philly Wedding Snacks to Add to Your Catering Menu

Updated: Oct 22, 2021

What comes to mind when you think of Philadelphia? The Liberty Bell? The Eagles, Flyers, or Phillies? How about Rocky Balboa, or the many real-life boxers that have called this city home?

One thing you might not think of is food. Sure, there's the famous Philly Cheesesteak, but that isn't the only thing Philadelphians ever eat. There are plenty of other options as well.

You can even find a great selection of wedding snacks in the City of Brotherly Love. It's a great way to add some unique flair to your special day. We'll talk about some of the best snacks for Philadelphia weddings in the paragraphs below.

1. Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches

We've mentioned that these aren't the only things that people eat in Philadelphia, but there's a reason they're the city's most famous food. Shredded pieces of steak covered with melted cheese and onions.

There are many different ways to have a cheesesteak, but the most popular is as a sandwich. If you're looking for a great place to buy Philly cheesesteak for your wedding reception, boosphilly.com has you covered.

2. Cookies and Milk/Shakes

While you may see some disagreement over whether to serve milk or milkshakes, people seem to agree that cookies are an excellent choice for weddings.

Weddings are special occasions, and the guests are all there to celebrate with the happy couple. They aren't expected to be counting calories here. Weddings are a sort of universal cheat day.

Remember that serving cookies might be more challenging to navigate than some of the other items on this list. That's because allergies can come into play, and allergens are harder to identify in cookies.

If you're thinking of serving cookies with peanut butter or other potential allergens, please say so on the RSVP and have respondents mark off if they have any allergies.

3. Soft Pretzels

Soft pretzels can also make quite a splash at weddings, a longtime staple at most professional sports stadiums. This is especially true in Philadelphia, which has been serving up these treats since 1861. These days, Pennsylvania produces 4 out of every 5 pretzels sold in the US.

You may offer a few different options for toppings with these pretzels, but the traditional Philadelphia way is with mustard and melted cheese. The classic is just one option, however. There are plenty of other combinations worth trying.

Perhaps you want a plain pretzel, or maybe you're a fan of The Office or like to go big and put every available topping on the pretzel. We can't guarantee this will taste very good, but feel free to try it.

We have this image of caterers as always serving fancy dishes with foreign names, but companies offer pretzels and cookies for wedding catering. If you're not a big fan of catering, there are plenty of Philly food trucks that would be glad to help out.
